Shadowlawn, circa 1815, is located in the center of historic
Bardstown, Nelson County,
Kentucky.
Designed by Baltimore-based architect John Rogers in the early nineteenth century, Shadowlawn offers a unique lodging experience in an old Federal home that has been thoughtfully re-stored over the decades to reflect living in the mid-1800s. Decorated throughout with mostly 'period' Asian antiques, Shadowlawn is also a memorable venue for special events and corporate
functions.
Shadowlawn sits gracefully in the center of colonial
Bardstown: Walking distance from the town's main street shopping district,
My Old Kentucky
Home, the Oscar Getz Whiskey Museum (located across the road in the pre-Civil War Spalding Hall), the Civil War Museum and
St. Joseph's Proto Cathedral (also designed by John Rogers). Geographically, the home is also an easy drive to Nelson County's various attractions, including the area's historic bourbon distilleries such as
Maker's
Mark, Heaven Hill and
Jim Beam, and natural beauty spots such as
Bernheim
Forest. |

Whoa it is finally summer here in Bardstown and that means warm days; cool nights; fireflies; swims at the local pool; a tonne of music and local events; and a cool glass of lemonade while sittin' on the front porch of Shadowlawn watchin' the world go by (like Gabe-the-Dog is doin' in the photo).
Summer is a good time to come visit as different events are happening all over the place -like band concerts at the park and festivals on our city streets.
So come visit us -I promise my Dad and Donna will take good care of you and Gabe-the-Dog will keep the squirrels away (ha...he never catches them).
See you soon.
